It’s About Time!
An Introductory Blog Post
So I am finally coming around to the idea of “blogging.” I know that I am very late to the game; however, I wanted to make sure that I really had something to say, and -- more importantly -- something that will hopefully be of interest and that will help those folks running organizations, leading institutions, or centering their work in racial justice and racial equity.
I have arrived at this point in my professional journey through my experiences as a manager, mentor, executive, leader, teacher, and student. Along the way I have been fortunate enough to learn, practice, and “preach” about organizational leadership while observing “Best Practices” and “Not-So-Best Practices.”
I try and observe and make comments based on a 360 degree view of organizations (looking at the organization from many different angles and intersections) and a 3-dimensional perspective of merging the concepts of
Purpose (what are we trying to do)
Strategy (how we are trying to do it)
Operations (functionality)
I hope to bring some fresh and unique perspectives to the process of leading and managing organizations with intentionality and strategy. I do not want this to be a one-way website, but a place where people can bring their thoughts and questions for us to reflect upon and hopefully gain some clarity during what has felt like a very unclear and ambiguous time for all of us!
This site will reflect how I think about running organizations, how I interact with folks trying to grapple with important issues, and most importantly how I feel about important work being done by a host of brave folks.
So wander through the site, send me your insights and questions, and stay tuned for what is next!
